Pop-Up Shop Pilot Program

The Pop-Up Shop program is designed to support business growth through greater business visibility by lowering barriers of entry into operating a business storefront. The program aims to enliven the downtown commercial center and lower the commercial vacancy rate within the downtown core.

Landlords with a commercial space that has been vacant for at least 6 months are encouraged to participate in the program. Starting summer 2026, entrepreneurs who are looking to test their operations in a retail space downtown can do so with no rental fee for 1-6 months.

Applications are now open, with the program administered by the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce.

Program Goals & Purposes

The goal of the Pop-Up Shop Pilot Program is to support home-based businesses in testing the viability of operating in a rental space while lowering the vacancy rate within the downtown core

Activated spaces bring people and energy into an area, making it more appealing to prospective tenants.
