The Kitimat Chamber of Commerce was established in 1955, with founding members representing a diverse range of local businesses and services—including a florist, shoe store, banks, a dairy, appliance retailers, a barber, various professionals, and Alcan. From 1957 to 1977, the Business and Professional Women’s Club supported local businesswomen by organizing international dinners, hosting graduation teas, and offering two scholarships. Since its founding, the Chamber has continued to advance its mission of fostering a vibrant and inclusive local economy for the benefit of all.

Board of Directors

Chamber Role: President

First Transit Canada, Manager

Paul moved to Kitimat in 2017, starting his career with Rio Tinto before transitioning to Transdev in 2019. With 25 years of service in the Canadian Military, he brings strong leadership, discipline, and operational expertise to his work. Paul is known for his no-nonsense approach and ability to deliver results, particularly in logistics and human resources, where he is a valued mentor. He is highly engaged in the business community, contributing to the Airshed Group, supporting local Cadets, and serving as Chair of Bull-O-Rama. Paul looks forward to stepping into the President role for the 2026/2027 term.

The key areas that the board should focus on are the outdoor market and to see it through so that the construction starts. Secondly, I think it is important that we get a harbor master in place for the safety of the community that uses the Douglas channel.

Chamber Role: Vice-President

JacK's Aligned Consulting

Jacylyn is the Owner/General Manager of JacK Aligned Consulting Ltd. A lifelong Kitimat resident, she has spent 41 years in the community and enjoys raising her son there. She is well-connected, hardworking, and passionate about building relationships, supporting local events, and promoting growth. She looks forward to her 5th term on the Chamber board.

With over 18 years of experience in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental, and Industrial Hygiene in heavy construction, she champions safe, inclusive workplaces. Active on multiple committees and community initiatives, she is dedicated to strengthening local businesses, embracing innovation, and helping Kitimat succeed.

Jaclyn feels the key areas the board should prioritize are simple strategic business sustainability and growth for all in Kitimat. She is committed to the community and businesses of all fronts, whether it is the storefront coffee shop or a 70-plus-year aluminum industry. She wants to connect the people to the businesses and vice versa. This also includes the many volunteer-based organizations. Too often, she has found that a common theme is lack of knowledge as to what Kitimat really has to offer or where to find certain local services. It’s rare that she needs to expand her search past Kitimat for a household part or item or for the search of outdoor pleasure. It’s generally right here and she is here to aim the attention back to keeping it local.
