The Kitimat Chamber of Commerce was established in 1955, with founding members representing a diverse range of local businesses and services—including a florist, shoe store, banks, a dairy, appliance retailers, a barber, various professionals, and Alcan. From 1957 to 1977, the Business and Professional Women’s Club supported local businesswomen by organizing international dinners, hosting graduation teas, and offering two scholarships. Since its founding, the Chamber has continued to advance its mission of fostering a vibrant and inclusive local economy for the benefit of all.

Whether lobbying for business-friendly policies, advocating for infrastructure investment, or addressing workforce challenges, the committee ensures the voice of Kitimat’s business community is heard where it matters most.

By engaging directly with decision-makers and staying proactive on policy matters, the Chamber helps shape a business environment where companies can succeed and grow. This behind-the-scenes advocacy strengthens the long-term health of Kitimat’s economy and protects the interests of its members.

Chaired by a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, the committee works closely with Chamber staff to build community awareness and advocate on public issues that affect the region’s economic vitality.
