Robin Rowland grew up in Kitimat and later graduated from York University and Carleton University. After more than 30 years in the media, on a national and local level for CBC News, Global News, CTV News, magazines, wire services and newspapers, he returned to Kitimat in the summer of 2010. He is the author of seven books and continues to work as an independent journalist for various media.

The Northern Sentinel is Kitimat's local newspaper.
They print two newspapers each week, namely:
-Wednesday's paper - Northern Sentinel - can be purchased at most convenience stores.
-Friday's paper - The Northern Connector - is dropped in postboxes in Kitimat, Terrace and Prince Rupert.

The Northern Light paper is thoroughly distributed within Kitimat every Friday and online to over 15 different sites from Smithers to Prince Rupert. We also post our paper onto our Instagram and Facebook page each week. That way everyone can enjoy it, even if they can't get to one of the locations we deliver to each week.
Within the paper you can find features that have gained permanent spots. The Business Spotlight is one we are especially proud of, since it promotes local business and helps us to get to know how some of them started and what they provide for our community. Other features include the kid's activity page, a full page of recipes, sudoku, crossword, word search, riddles, jokes and interesting facts. We have striven to make this a clear, enjoyable paper so that everybody can find a little something to enjoy and hopefully brighten up their day.
